“Donald Duck never wore pants. But whenever he’s getting out of the shower, he always put a towel around his waist. I mean, what is that about?” Friends
Yes, is true, Donald Duck never wore pants, and somehow without wearing any iconic item of clothing, he managed to become unforgettable, memorable, and an IT character through out half a century. As true as it can be the fact that we can’t all be Donald Duck, I think we can somehow find a way of expressing ourselves not through clothes, but to make the clothes express our unforgettable, memorable and IT personality in the way we wear them or why not.. not wear them. I’ve always noticed that the most important or better said memorable people I encountered, were never spotted because of the matching shoes and bag or the impeccable cut of the dress. Chanel doesn’t look the same on everybody! That’s why the world is full of ‘who wore it better’ situations where the same clothes are expressed in different ways by several people.
I once read an Iris Apfel interview where she said that fashion should never make you feel unhappy. The “I have nothing to wear” situation we find ourselves in almost everyday, the long minutes spent in front of the mirror matching things we don’t even find comfortable, the insomnia caused by the fancy event we have to attend and the fact that none of the 978 dresses we own fits, makes our relationship with fashion a very unhappy one. So, lets think of Donald Duck who had the gut and strength to walk in his bare duck ass his entire life and make it worth a million bucks!
I was wearing:
H&M t-shirt
New Yorker shorts
Love the normcore yet awesome outfit, but love the blogpost itself even more! It’s so common to forget one’s own IT personality to make room for the IT jacket/bag/shoe etc! X mar.s.
