M-am intors in Romania dar sufletul meu e inca in Ibiza.

Povesteste-mi cum e o zi in bootcamp!

Sunt cateva persoane foarte talentate ramase in joc!

Dj SevenEgo, on her name Nicoleta Brebenel, represented Romania for this year Burn Residency, one of the most important DJ competition in the world. Nicoleta started her DJ career 6 months ago and she managed to win her spot in the Burn Residency boot camp where she met some of the biggest names of electronic music. Even if she only got back 24 hours ago, she agreed to tell me some things about her journey to Ibiza and what Burn Residency experience meant for her.

What are your feelings now when there are less then 24 hours since you got back from Ibiza?

I am back in Romania but my soul is still in Ibiza. There’s a mixture of feelings, on one hand I am disappointed I didn’t get to prove everything I had in mind when I signed up for this journey and on the other hand I’m very happy I got to the boot camp, that I met fabulous people and that I got a positive feed back from everyone.

Tell me how is a day in the boot camp!

A day in the boot camp feels like a week:) Classes, interviews, challenges, nights in the most famous clubs on the island and a perpetual feeling of surprise, because you never know what it will happen next. And there were fabulous things happening! Is not like you have the chance to be everyday face to face and learn from talented people like Umek, Marco Bailey, Jay Lumen, Uner and many others.

How did the Burn Residency experience help u?

Well, it put me on the map, if I can say it like this:) Everything was like a roller coaster! I met so many people, I improved my knowledge related to music production, I learned about the importance of promoting yourself or how significant the networking is especially when you’re a beginner in this job.

What’s your biggest regret related to Burn Residency?

My biggest regret is probably the fact that I didn’t stay in Ibiza long enough to play in front of Carl Cox. That was one of my biggest dream…

How did you get along with the other contestants?

We were more colleagues then contestants to each other. Even if there is lot of pressure because of the insane schedule, the heat, the lack of sleep and the stress caused by the daily challenges, I really felt that it was all about team work and of course lot of fair play between us. I got very close with some of them and I’m sure we will see each other in the future.

Who will win Burn Residency?

That’s hard to say! There are a few very talented people left in the game! I have my favorites:) But I really think that no matter who will win, he will truly deserve it because Phillip Straub and the other mentors have the experience to see the true value and talent behind every contestant.

What is your advice for the future applicants for the Burn Residency?

This is a unique chance, go for it and give in your best when you make the mix! Don’t over think, follow your feelings! And once you got there, be yourself and show what you can from the first moment.

What would you change if you could go back in time?

I  don’t know if I would change anything. We always think we could do more or we could be better. It’s hard to be above other people that have years of experience in this job. The fact that I got a positive feed back from Philipp and the entire crew, makes me think I did well what I did. I’ve been told that even if I’ve been doing this for a short period of time, I was able to keep up with the others and that I’ll be on top if I keep doing what I’m doing.

Will you apply for Burn Residency again?

Certainly!
